TECHNICAL UPDATE

by Glenn, WN0EHE

All of the repeaters have been working so well that the technical team hasn't been to any of the repeater sites since last summer. We do have a few trips planned when the weather permits. The frequency stability of the 449.125 repeater is not quite as good as we would like, and we have ordered a new transmitter crystal for that repeater. The APCO-25 digital repeat that is on the 145.220 repeater is working well but we plan to go Guy Hill to make some minor audio adjustments. Finally, the 145.340 IRLP repeater is still receiving some video interference on an intermittent basis. We plan to visit the 145.340 site and try to locate the source of the interference. Keep your fingers crossed that we get through the heavy wet spring snow season without any major problems.

ARRL MEMBERSHIP

If you are not currently an ARRL member but are considering joining the League, keep in mind that establishing your new ARRL membership through the RMRL earns our club a $15 recruiting commission. The best part is that it doesn't cost you any more to join the ARRL through the RMRL than it does to join the ARRL directly. The commission program is just one benefit that the RMRL enjoys as an ARRL-affiliated club.

Those of you who have been around for a while may remember that the League used to pay a commission if existing ARRL members renewed their memberships through an affiliated club. That part of the commission program was dropped several years ago, so now the League pays a commission only for new members. A "new member" is someone who has either never belonged to the League, or has not belonged for at least two years.

Please contact the Treasurer, Joe, WT0C, for additional information if you would like to support the club through this program. It's a great deal for you, the RMRL, and the ARRL!
